|
Good Morning, Stolen digger recovered before reported stolen ⬇️
Thanks to police officers’ instinct, a stolen mini digger worth thousands of pounds was recovered by officers before it was reported stolen. The digger was stolen from the Thirsk area overnight on 23 / 24 March, put on a trailer by the suspect and driven towards West Yorkshire. Further south on the A1, eagle-eyed officers from West Yorkshire Police became suspicious of the vehicle and trailer that was on false number plates and despite it initially failing to stop for them, they brought it to a stop near Boston Spa using a stinger device. As well as the digger being stolen, the vehicle being driven by the suspect turned out to be stolen from the Humberside area. The digger was recovered and the suspect, a 27-year-old man from the Selby area was arrested on suspicion of theft following a short foot-chase after he tried to run off from officers. He was taken into custody in the South Yorkshire area. In the meantime North Yorkshire Police received a report of the stolen digger and were able to update the victim that the machine had been found and recovered for forensic examination. The suspect was later transferred to North Yorkshire’s custody where he was interviewed and released while under investigation to allow further enquiries to be carried out. He remains under investigation for multiple offences across three police force areas. Ref: 12260052468
